Aromas of fresh red and black fruits, such as plums and blueberries. On the palate, the wine is agile and balanced, with soft tannins, and medium concentration.
Sourced from high elevation sites, sustainable farming and drip irrigated. The grapes were cooled upon arrival for pre-fermentation maceration. Alcoholic fermentation began after approximately 72 hours. After fermentation, 30% of the wine was aged in French oak, while the remainder was kept in stainless steel tanks until final blending. The wine rested in bottle for 3 months under controlled conditions before release. VEGAN.
Bodega Urqo is a family-owned winery in Argentina's Uco Valley, founded by the Urquía family, whose roots in Argentine agriculture date back to 1948. The family's move into winemaking began in 2007, driven by a desire to bring the same commitment to quality and agricultural expertise to a new venture. The winery is based in Tupungato, with vineyards spread across three distinct Uco Valley locations: Tupungato and Los Chacayes in Tunuyán.
The winery's philosophy centers on expressing the individual character of its high-altitude vineyards while embracing responsible farming and modern winemaking. Its vineyards sit between approximately 1,030 and 1,150 meters (3,380–3,770 feet) above sea level, where intense sunlight, cool nights, and well-draining soils help produce wines with freshness, structure, and concentration. The soils range from deep sandy and loamy soils to alluvial soils with limestone influences.
The winemaking team brings together some notable Argentine wine talent. Founder Loli Urquía leads the project, with viticulture overseen by Franco Bastías, formerly of Domaine Bousquet, and winemaker Leo Pisano.
