Stella del Filare was founded in the northern, foothill area of Franciacorta, in Provezze, a hamlet of Provaglio d’Iseo, at about 220 meters above sea level. Vineyard are with calcareous loam 'franco' soils planted to 18 year old vines. Luigi gave life to his winemaking project inspired by a passion for natural wine and small-scale production. The name Stella del Filare comes from a play on words with Filastrio, the patron saint of Provezze, subtly weaving a reference to the local territory into the winery’s identity.
After musical experiences in Brooklyn and time spent working with American micro-wineries, Luigi returned to Italy in 2018, refining his viticultural approach alongside great mentors, in particular Michele Loda of Il Pendio. Production began in 2021 and remains intentionally small, about 3,000 to 5000 bottles per year, allowing close attention to every phase, from vine to bottle.
Today, he personally farms the vineyards, following organic practices with a focus on sustainability and respect for the natural and delicate balance of the land. Both in the vineyard and in the cellar, practices are guided toward enhancing drinkability, elegance, and freshness, allowing only time and raw material to express depth, persistence, and varietal character.
